- What kind of event is this?
Just a casual happy hour. Show up, grab a nametag, a mask (optional), and say hello! The Admiral runs a happy hour menu all evening on Wednesdays.
- How do I get there?
The Admiral is within walking distance of Dupont Circle, Farragut North, and Farragut West stations, served by the Red, Blue, Orange, and Silver lines. Street parking is often available, and there is abundant paid parking available in nearby office building garages after business hours.
- Can allies attend?
Absolutely! Allies are most certainly welcome. Further, we want to maintain a welcoming environment to those who are questioning their gender identity or expression and may not currently identify as gender expansive or trans.
- How about contractors and volunteers?
Also yes! The event centers federal employees, but people serving the government as a contractor or volunteer are absolutely welcome.
- Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
Yes, the entrance and bathrooms are wheelchair accessible! If you have further accessibility needs or questions, please reach out to James at [email protected] or 314-954-6006.
- Is there a gender neutral bathroom?
Yes! The venue has a gender neutral single occupancy bathroom.
- Is the event indoors or outdoors?
Outdoors! In the event of inclement weather, we'll move it indoors.
- What COVID-19 precautions are being taken?
If you’re not feeling well or symptomatic, please stay home and we will see you next time!
We highly encourage COVID-19 testing beforehand and wearing a well-fitted mask when you are not actively eating or drinking, especially if social distancing cannot be maintained. A limited number of KN95s will be provided on-site. Free COVID-19 tests can be obtained through the DC Library or CVS if you are uninsured.
- Do I need a ticket?
No, but please sign up for one if you can. RSVPs help us inform the venue of roughly how many people will attend.
- Is this an official Pride in Federal Service Gender Expansive and Trans Federal Working Group event?
No. GET FWG does not hold local events. We do strive to adhere to their language and policies, but this event is not under GET FWG.
- I’m immunocompromised and don’t feel comfortable attending in person. Will there be future virtual events?
We only run this local happy hour, but please reach out to a GET FWG co-lead if you're interested in helping them to plan or host a virtual event! We certainly look forward to attending any such events.
